Simply Sketched 24

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday
Challenge!

We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.

Today’s challenge has been set by Keila Calver – and there’s no sketch to show you.  Keila has challenged us to make something using window sheet, otherwise known as acetate, which, as you know, is completely transparent.

I had a few ideas for this one, but eventually settled for this Moon Baby card, featuring the brand-new Stampin’ Blends pens (on sale from 1 November, so not long to wait!) and a bit of out-of-the-frame die cutting.

There’ll be a tutorial on my YouTube channel soon if you want to see how I made it)
I’m really pleased with the way it came out – the colours look rather retro to me, which I like, and are quite strong  and clear.  Lovely!
So now, on with the blog hop!  You can get to Dee's blog by clicking on the button -

Keep crafting, and  please do come back again soon!

Trick or Treat - Mini Pizza Box

Hello - and welcome!

Have you seen the mini pizza boxes in the Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter catalogue?

I'm stocking up on them - so useful for keeping small items organised, and until you need them they fold flat so don't take up much room at all.
They come in white - but as you can see from the photo at the top of this post, they take being coloured really well.

Of course, because it's nearly Halloween, today's project is for a Trick or Treat box - but you could decorate your boxes to suit whatever you needed them for (holding party favours, perhaps?)

Here's the tutorial -

Halloween is my favourite celebration of the year and I'm so looking forward to it - how about you?

Keep crafting!

Silver snowflakes

Hello everyone, and welcome!

OK, I know it's still October, but the festive season will be here sooner than you think...so today I've made a card with a wintry look that could be a Christmas card - or a winter birthday card.

See that background paper?  That's from the Year of Cheer set, which is gold and silver foiled on Whisper White - but it takes colour really, really well.  Here's the tutorial  -

Thanks for visiting - see you again soon, and don't forget - keep crafting!

Moonlight Cat

Hello and welcome to my blog!
Have you seen the Cat punch in the Autumn/Winter catalogue?  It was at the top of my “must have” list as soon as I spotted it.  I will admit to being a crazy cat lady.

Today’s card is a CASE (that’s Copy And Share Everything) inspired by one I saw in a Facebook group.  I’ve tried to find the name of the original poster but I can’t – so if it was you and I’ve pinched your idea, please let me know – and I’m really sorry I haven’t given you credit but it was a really, really great idea.
Here’s the video –

Easy!
Thanks for visiting – and keep crafting!

Origami box

Hi everyone, welcome!

Today's project is an origami box.  Well, it could be a dish if you didn't bother to make a lid for it. The lid's not compulsory.

You can make these pretty much any size you like just by changing the size of the square of paper you start with.  If you want to make a few of these that nest, the squares need to be 2 inches larger or smaller (so paper that's 8 inches, 10 inches and 12 inches square will make boxes that nest.)  Want to see how it's made?  Here you go -

Two-fer techniques

Hello and welcome!

I thought I’d share something a bit different from my usual finished card/project today.

I’m a great collector of techniques – for paper or card finishes or for paper engineering.  I love being able to start with a plain piece of paper and card and make it look super-special, so today I decided to share a couple of techniques that have been around for a while but that I haven’t used in my cardmaking for some time.

To begin with, I had a play with  watercolour block printing.  Of course, you can do this with any dye-based stamp pad, but I found that the Stampin' Write markers and the Stampin' Spots ( which come uninked, so you can make them any colour you choose) gave me quite a bit of control over where I put the colour.  I'd say that using watercolour paper is the key to getting a good result.  The paper needs to be absorbent and strong enough to cope with a lot of water.  The timing is important too - if you leave the wet paper too long it'll start to stick to the block.

The fusible webbing technique is lots of fun and you never know what you're going to get!  It is important that you use a webbing that will melt into holes, not one that keeps its integrity.  It's the same stuff that you use to use to mend the hem of your trousers, just in a big sheet instead of a narrow strip. (You could use the narrow strip for edging a piece of card!) This is the kind I used -

You could, of course, use either technique on its own - combining them is not compulsory, but I did love the way my bits of card came out! In the end, I used the finished die-cuts as embellishments on cards.

So there you are, hope you enjoyed it - and remember, keep crafting!

See you soon,

Keren
